Q & A for Students

I wanted one place for students to go to post questions about class or what we are learning. It's a place to communicate where everyone can come and read and post on common topics. My blog seems like it will be the easiest place for this.

Just post a comment with your question in it and I will reply so that everyone can see. You can also communicate here with everyone else, that's fine too.

  3. Julie,
I think there are about 4 or 5 people signed up so far. Almost half full!

    Sherry,
If you do plan on making a veil, make sure it is 3 yards long and something lightweight that will catch the air. Chiffon is good for this and is usually on clearance at walmart!

  4. Hey Alyssa,
I have a question about the workshop with Tamalyn Dallal. I was interested in going. I know the flyer said that all levels are welcomed. I just wanted to know if it is appropriate for very new beginners like myself. I mean I don't want to go and be totally lost..you know?

  5. Hi Sherry,
I took my very first workshop after 12 weeks of instruction. I think that's exactly what you'll have by the time it happens. You won't get everything, but you will get a lot and improve from it. You're doing real well and making a lot of progress. It's so important to take instruction from the masters any chance you get. I highly recommend it for you!

  6. Hey Alyssa,
I have another question...this time it is about the turn we did in class. I'm having a hard time with it. Can you go over it again? Thanks

  7. Sure thing. Start in your basic posture and, turning to the left, take your right foot and cross it over your left and then step with your left foot. Your left foot will just pivot around in its spot and your right foot will be traveling around the left.

The first movement with the right foot will end up placing your heels together and the next movement with the left foot will have your toes close by each other. Then, the right foot pivots back to its starting position and you should be facing forward again.

Let me know if it's not clear or if you have questions about my description.

  8. Alyssa,
Hello I've been practicing with my veil. I was wondering if you could quickly review the VENUS, KISS, and WATERFALL.
    Thanks

  9. Remember the Venus is just the overhead veil toss. Front to back or back to front.

The Kiss is where you lift it up overhead with a quick wrist flick at the end to get the ends of the veil to "kiss."

The Waterfall is where the veil is behind you and you're flicking it all the way up to the right side (with left arm a little behind you) and then you switch sides. The right arm comes down and behind your back a little as the left arm flicks up. It's a side to side movement.
